  1. Hi, Luke

I’m also a big fan of meditation. I’ve been doing it for quite some time now.

Meditation is one thing that really works for me, it keeps me on track to my goals.

I love your website. I am going to read a lot of your blog posts as I find them interesting.

    Keep up the great website.

    Michelle

  2. I find that 30 minutes to an hour is good for me. I practice Tibetan Buddhist meditation that puts more stress on the visualization aspects of meditation.

I think it’s important to not overdo it and even if you do it for 5 minutes a day, you can still get a lot of benefit out of it.

    Thanks for sharing!

    • Yes, I have the same experiences as you Ian. 30 minutes to an hour is long enough for me

  3. Hi Luke,

Thank you for writing an article explaining how to meditate. Meditation was my best friend to help coping with the stresses of the military, not so much when overseas fighting a war. I honestly never knew that too much meditation could actually be a bad thing. It is a great way to set ones goals in there life while having a clear mind.

    Yours Truly,

    Carlton

  4. I’m currently a beginner Mantra meditator (is there even such a term? lol), meditating only 15 minutes a day, and even then, I find it a big problem concentrating throughout the entire session.

Random thoughts such as what should I have for dinner, what am I going to do after I meditate, and what I have to get done by the end of the day are some examples that interfere with my meditation.

Looks like I have to be a bit more realistic and break it down to maybe 5 mins but 3x a day or 3 mins but 5x a day?

    • Distraction during a meditation session is a common problem. Don’t fight with it. Whenever you notice that you’re not concentrated on meditation and your thoughts wander, then just let it go and focus on your breathing for example.

  5. I’ve taken yoga before but never really meditated. I know it relaxes you and can help with so many issues. So it appears that there are many different types of meditation. I can certainly fit in 15-20 minutes twice a day. Sometimes I just have too much stress and meditation can sure help me. I used to go for hypnotism and that helped, but I want to try meditation now. It has to have a positive effect on me.
